1. Appointment may be made in a suitable pay band or on a consolidated salary. Applicant should be an eminent scholar or a promising young academic. Normally, the tenure of appointment is two years. Age limit is 60 years.
2. The Center for Development Studies (CDS) is an autonomous research institute. Its main objective is to promote research, teaching and training in disciplines relevant to development.  Qualification : Minimum Qualification (for all facultypositions): Ph.D in appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) at the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout in addition, for:

  • Professor : Minimum 10 years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IIMs, NITIE, IISc Bangalore, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution/institutions of comparable standards.
  • Associate Professor : Minimum six years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent. 
  • Assistant Professor : Minimum three years of teaching/research/industrial experience (exclusive period of doing Ph.D) A fresh Ph.D may be considered for the position on contract basis.

(iv) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) to UGC Notification’s (Dated 30/6/2010) Clause 4.4.1, candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition
of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. v. NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.
